140,000 people. Over 50 countries. A long tradition of innovation that remains at the heart of the business today. These are just a few of the things that make us a major global financial services provider. But it’s our future ambitions and the actions we’re taking to achieve them that truly sets us apart.

We’re setting out to shape the future of our business. Driven by strong values and a clear direction, we’re focusing on one core purpose: Helping people achieve their ambitions – in the right way. This includes our graduates and interns.

Barclays offers a remarkable breadth of opportunities for students, undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates right across our business. There are openings in Corporate and Investment Banking, Retail and Business Banking and Wealth and Investment Management, as well as a host of crucial business support functions such as Technology, HR and Marketing.  Applications are welcome from graduates from all disciplines.

Graduates are playing their part in change right across Barclays. So as well as a strong academic record and a commercial outlook, you’ll need to be ready to help drive the business forward. As you do, you’ll take your own career forward too.

The Graduate Programme

The Graduate Programme is our key future talent stream and new joiners will typically enjoy early exposure to business-critical projects, gaining valuable experience as they work alongside senior managers as valued members of the team.
The programme kicks off with a comprehensive introduction to Barclays products and services, offering a thorough grounding in the financial markets, and continues with a range of presentations, case studies and workshops. Graduates can also expect to undertake role-specific training and one-on-one mentoring.

Most of our internships last for 9 weeks over the summer, although we do have off-cycle opportunities too, for up to six months in duration. In all cases, you’ll find yourself at the heart of the action. You’ll gain real experience in a real role, working on anything from live transactions and marketing projects to research and analysis, according to the business area you join. As well as benefiting from extensive training before and during the programme, you’ll have regular opportunities to network with intern colleagues, recent graduates and senior members of the firm.

Spring Programme

Our Spring Programmes give first-year students (or second years on four-year courses) incredible early insights into a career in the financial world. There are a number of specific programmes on offer, each of which is an intensive week of work shadowing, workshops, interactive skill sessions and senior-level networking. At the end of it, you’ll have a clear picture of what we do – and the opportunities we have to offer.
