Santander’s Banking and Corporate Finance team in Amsterdam is looking for a recent graduate with relevant internship experience

Analyst, Amsterdam-based, SCIB Banking & Corporate Finance, Netherlands & Belgium

The role of an Analyst in Banking & Corporate Finance at Santander is both versatile and unique. You will be based in Amsterdam, a newly established Santander branch in Europe. Your core activities are twofold. One part is focused on building core Corporate Finance skills to be able to pitch and execute strategic mandates. The other part is focused on building Client Relationship Management skills to build, sustain, and monetize global relationships with clients. Both elements are further explained below.

Corporate Finance – actively support in origination and execution of mandates:

An important part of the role is day-to-day execution of Corporate Finance and M&A mandates. You will, for instance, perform company valuations using various valuation methods such as discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, merger models, comparables, etc. You will also analyze companies’ business profiles and financial statements and assist in the preparation of marketing presentations for both origination (pitchbooks) and execution (information memorandum, management presentations, etc.).

Client Relationship Management – assisting Bankers in their global coverage responsibilities for large clients:

At Santander we follow a focused and relationship driven model with a target portfolio of Corporates, Sponsors and Financial Institutions. As an Analyst you will support Junior and Senior Bankers in originating and executing Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and Treasury Solutions mandates. In doing so you will participate in many client meetings and other client interactions. Importantly, you will drive product specialists and relationship partners globally to provide high quality services to clients across key geographies covered by Santander. In order to grow and thrive as a Junior Banker, the successful candidate must demonstrate intellectual curiosity and interest in delivering a wide scope of solutions ranging from M&A advisory, to ECM, DCM, Syndicated Loans, Acquisition Finance, Structured Finance, Working Capital Solutions, FX, etc.

Niels has held various leadership roles in Investment Banking at, amongst others, Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers, and UBS, across Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Markets, and Corporate Banking. Under Niels’ leadership SCIB is building a leading, profitable and sustainable client business in the Benelux across SCIB´s key businesses. The ambition for SCIB in the Benelux is to become one of the leading foreign banking providers of strategic and treasury products and services to a focused client perimeter.

The team has a strong focus on ESG Corporate Finance and Financing solutions, supported by Santander’s commitment to net zero and to mobilize EUR 220bn of assets for energy transition by 2030.

The Benelux team has already grown from 1px to 15px in 2022. The team currently consist of 5 senior bankers, 3 juniors, 2 interns and support staff.
