The role of an Intern in Accounting & Control at Santander is both versatile and unique. You will be based in Amsterdam, a newly established Santander branch in Europe. Your core activities are twofold. One part is focused on Accounting, keeping the books for the Amsterdam branch in check. The other part is focused on expenses management and various reporting by performing the following tasks:

  • Post and process journal entries
  • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
  • Assist in preparation/review of reports for taxation purposes and DNB Reports
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses, travel expenses as assigned
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports

Requirements for the role:

  • Preferably experience in Accounting & Control
  • (nearly) Finalised undergraduate degree in area such as Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration (Thesis internship can be considered)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines while paying attention to details
  • Pro-active and autonomous
  • Ability to work in a truly international environment
  • Team player who can interact effectively with all levels of hierarchy and relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel (Vlookup, Pivot Tables etc.)
  • Languages: Fluent in English. Dutch and Spanish are a plus
  • Availability for minimum of 2 months
